Lyn Fryer

I have been sewing since I was a child. After a career as a Headteacher and Educational Consultant, I have now the opportunity to indulge fully in my passion for creating decorative but practical items in leather and fabric. I live in Henfield and have my own fully equipped workshop where I make leather and fabric bags and bespoke quilts.

I am fascinated by the character of different textiles. I love working with bright colours, especially for quilts, and exploring different colour combinations to create original leather and fabric bags. My collection of homemade leather bags has continued to evolve over the last 3 years. The leather always determines the style and structure of the bag; for thicker leathers, the more structured look of the tote bag, the rucksack and hand stitched items, for finer leathers, the hobo style or drawstring. Every piece of leather, whether pristine or recycled from a sofa or jacket, presents a design challenge and one where I am constantly learning.

I have shown my work at many craft fairs locally and regularly take commissions for leather bags and quilts.
