It took many years for me to realise that painting is how I most want to express myself. So now, with a head full of ideas and some lovely paint I try to navigate my world.
Some of my recent inspiration has come from Antony Gormley’s vast installation ‘Another Place’ on Merseyside, which has fond and very personal memories for me. I am fascinated by the panorama and the uniformity of the planting in our local vineyards and also in the kitchens at Petworth House, which speak to my lifetime connection with the food industry. As a keen gardener I also enjoy the challenge of the unusual angle among the planting.
I have come to enjoy exhibiting my work and it’s a very special feeling when my style strikes a chord with someone else. This year I am donating 75% of any of the commissions and sales that I achieve to the Aldingbourne Trust which supports over 1000 people with a learning disability and or autism. What started as a lock-down project has now become my main reason to make art. I am really looking forward to exhibiting again and meeting up with art lovers to promote the work of this amazing local charity.
