Steve Lympany

I’m a retired engineer. I did lots of scraperboards as a student, and then didn’t do any art until my late 50s. I’ve been taking it more seriously in the past couple of years (I’m 70).

Recently I’ve been doing more portraiture in oils. I also do charcoal portraits – pets and humans. I’m trying to learn and improve, and my favourite artists include Richard Schmid, Alex Venezia, Jeremy Lipking, Karen Offut.

My main hope is to do painting that I like, and other people like – and I get a bigger buzz if they hang them up.
